This time I came to the Beijing Olympic Sports Area for business, I chose Beijing Continental Grand Hotel. I thought it was a conventional old business hotel, but after staying, I realized that it had hidden the most important comfort in travel in every detail, and the overall accommodation experience far exceeded expectations.
The process of checking in was not delayed at all. After checking the information, the front desk staff proactively asked me if I needed a quiet room type on a higher floor. They found out that I had caught an early flight the day before and even helped me advance my check-in time by nearly two hours, so I didn't have to drag my luggage in the lobby. The fatigue of just entering Beijing instantly dissipated. At the moment of opening the door, there was no stuffy smell common in the old hotel. The air was light fragrance. The sun came through the french window, and the whole room was bright and transparent.
The experience of bedding was the biggest surprise of this stay. The mattress was moderately soft and hard, neither collapsing nor becoming too hard to hurt the waist. Paired with fluffy down pillows and neck pillows, after two days of continuous exhaustion, it quickly dissipated after lying down. I paid special attention to the details of the bedding, and there were no stains or pilling marks on the sheets. The edges and corners were ironed flat and snug, indicating that the hotel had put a lot of effort into hygiene maintenance. The hot water in the bathroom comes out in seconds, and the showerhead's water output is even and abundant. After taking a shower, wrapped in a fluffy bathrobe, the whole person completely relaxes.
The hotel's detailed service is always considerate. I casually placed the charging cable on my desk, and the cleaning lady helped me wrap it up and put it in the storage box when cleaning, without touching the work files on my desk. In the evening, I hurried to my room until late at night. I called the front desk to ask for a supper. Soon, a bowl of hot millet porridge and pickles was delivered, which made my stomach warm. Even the discomfort of staying up late was alleviated. Takeout doesn't have to go downstairs to pick it up, the robot will steadily deliver the food to the door of the room, which is particularly worry free for guests who don't want to change clothes and go downstairs.
The breakfast experience of the next day was also remarkable. The freshly cooked noodles could be made with optional ingredients. soybean milk was freshly ground, without the faint feeling of powder mixing. Even the Beijing characteristic sugar fire and coke rings were made very well. After breakfast, I walked around the 2000 square meter lawn garden provided by the hotel. The fragrance of plants and trees enveloped the breeze, and the silhouette of the Bird's Nest could be faintly seen in the distance, completely devoid of the hustle and bustle of the city.
Having stayed in so many hotels around the Olympic Sports Center, Beijing Continental Grand Hotel is not the most trendy one, but it fills the accommodation experience with solid details. It takes only a few minutes to walk to the Water Cube, and it is convenient to go for a run in Aosen Park or visit the China Science and Technology Museum. It is about 1.5 kilometers away from the Huixin West Street North Exit subway station. Taking the bus to transfer to Line 5 or Line 8 to various attractions in the city is very smooth, and it only takes ten minutes to drive to Zhongguancun. Whether it is traveling or doing business, it is very worry free.
